Charadrius nivosus
Range: Pacific coast from southern Washington to southern Baja California, Mexico.
Threats: Population is on the decline. Snowy Plovers are threatened by loss of habitat, and disturbances from development, recreation, and other human pressures. Nesting attempts are often disrupted by human visitors to their beach habitat.
Adaptations: No waves, no worries. Snowy plovers thrive on half-foot swells.
