This is a museum-quality print created in collaboration with The Plastic Pickup & Countercurrent Art to help tell the story behind their project "Fore the Waves".

Just a few years ago the 20,000 golfballs that make up the wave sculpture were sitting on the ocean floor, releasing plastic into the sea as they degrade their outer core.

Alex Weber, director of The Plastic Pickup, led the collection effort & went on to publish a scientific study demonstrating the release of toxic components. As a result, NOAA Marine Sanctuaries & Pebble Beach Golf Course designed a protocol to collect the 2-5 million more balls estimated to be along the coastline. The goal of the art installation is to expand the adoption of the cleanup protocol to coastal golf courses globally while highlighting the power of individuals to make a positive impact on their local ecosystem.

A portion of the proceeds from this painting & prints goes back to Countercurrent Art to support their environmental outreach projects.
