Range: Two subspecies, the Desert Bighorn & Sierra Nevada Bighorn range in the Peninsular & Sierra Nevada mountains of California
Threats: Both of these subspecies are endangered, while the remaining population is stable. Competition for forage and disease transmission from livestock, climate change, habitat loss, and human activity all threaten the Bighorn Sheep.
Adaptations: Naturally protected from gnarly wipeouts by their large horns.
